Wozzeck Information

Wozzeck is the first opera by the Austrian composer Alban Berg. Wozzeck was composed between 1914 and 1922 and first performed in 1925. Though Berg began work on Wozzeck in 1914, he was delayed by the start of World War I and it was not until he was on leave from his regiment in 1917 and 1918 that he was able to devote his attention to it. The United States premiere of Wozzeck was given by the Philadelphia Grand Opera Company on March 19, 1931.
