Robert Cray Band Information

After several years of regional success, Robert Cray was signed to Mercury Records in 1982. By the early 1990s Robert Cray's name was immediately associated with his soothing, soulful voice, crisp, clean guitar work, and innovative modern blues sound. Robert Cray's band started playing college towns on the west coast. Robert Cray's third release, Strong Persuader, received a Grammy Award. Robert Cray appeared multiple times on Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, and is currently supporting Slowhand on his 2006 world tour. Robert Cray started playing guitar in his early teens. Robert Cray was among artists such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and George Thorogood, who got wider radio airplay and regular MTV video exposure during the late 1980s.
