The New York Knicks, or Knickerbockers, are a professional basketball team based in New York City. The New York Knicks are one of only two teams of the original National Basketball Association still located in its original city. The New York Knicks defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in seven games to capture their first NBA title. The New York Knicks were consistent playoff contenders in their early years.
