High School Musical is an American made-for-television musical film, produced and distributed by Disney Channel, and was released on January 20, 2006.  High School Musical is the story of two high school students, Troy Bolton, who is captain of his school's basketball team, and Gabriella Montez, a shy transfer student who excels in math and science.  The Emmy Award-winning television film High School Musical was one of the most successful DCOMs ever produced, with one sequel already confirmed, as well as a number-one soundtrack that is certified triple-platinum, making High School Musical one of the most commercially-successful records of the year.  The High School Musical: The Concert features the original songs from the movie, as well as showcase songs from Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, and Corbin Bleu who all now have or will have solo material in the future.  The High School Musical: The Concert tour has been running since November 29, kicking off in San Diego, California.  The High School Musical: The Concert tour is planned to continue until January 28th, playing in major cities around the country.  The High School Musical: The Concert will feature all of the original cast members except for Zac Efron, who is filming Hairspray in Canada.  Together, they try out for the lead parts in their high school musical. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella persist and inspire others along the way.
