Chase Field opened in 1998 just in time for the Diamondbacks' first game after coming to Arizona as an expansion team. Costs for Chase Field were originally estimated at $279 million in 1995, but cost overruns pushed the final price to $364 million. Construction on Chase Field began in 1996, and was finished just before the Diamondbacks' first season began, in 1998. |
